National Committee for Sustainable Development endorses the draft Integrated National Financing Strategy

The National Committee for Sustainable Development (NCSD), chaired by the Prime Minister of Mongolia, convened on 11 August 2022 and endorsed the draft of Integrated national financing strategy (INFS), prepared by the Government’s working group and United Nations in Mongolia. At the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, member states were advised to develop an "Integrated National Financing Strategy" aimed at fully mobilizing multiple financing sources for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mongolia is one of the 86 countries around the world that are currently developing the Integrated National Financing Strategy for increasing, aligning, and mobilizing financing resources for SDGs.

His Excellency Mr. Javkhlan Bold, Minister of Finance, Acting Minister of Economy and Development and Deputy Chair of the NCSD, stressed the importance of INFS and said, “This strategy contains many important measures including the introduction of results-oriented, gender responsive and SDG aligned budgeting methodology, debt stability, innovative and green financial instruments, introduction of environmental and social governance (ESG) reporting standards and mechanism to support investments with positive impact on sustainable development".

Mr. Tapan Mishra, UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia, applauded the Government of Mongolia for its leadership in achieving SDGs and aligning financial sources with SDGs and said, “An effective collaboration and partnership of various national and local government agencies as well as the development partners are pivotal moving forward.”

Furthermore, with Mongolia’s upcoming presentation of “Voluntary National Review on SDGs progress” at the UN High-level Political Forum in 2023, Mr. Narantsogt.S, Deputy Minister of Economy and Development, presented the progress of preparation and national SDGs targets and its’ indicators to the NCSD members. Mongolia presented its first Voluntary National Review four years ago and preparation for the second review is in progress.
