The Vice Minister of Economy and Development S.Narantsogt received the newly appointed Ambassador-Designate to Mongolia Ann Derwin. Ireland is one of the few countries that has shown sustained economic growth during the global Covid-19 pandemic and is home to the Pfizer vaccine. The Ambassador-Designate presented the experience of successfully attracting foreign investment, the strategy of developing the pharmaceutical industry in a cluster, and exchanged opinions on the possibility of cooperation in the fields of information technology and agriculture.

The parties exchanged opinions on how EuroChamber's research and recommendations on improving Mongolia's trade, investment and business environment are aligned with the government's policy and agreed to jointly organize a B2B meeting to create and support the access of Mongolian entrepreneurs to the European market. The Vice Minister S. Javhlan, a member of the Parliament and an Acting Minister of Economy and Development, submitted the Parliament draft resolution on "Approval of Targeted Development Program" to the Speaker of the Parliament, G. Zandanshatar. The Targeted Development Programs aimed to ensure the successful implementation of the 10-year goals and objectives of the “Vision-2050 long-term development policy” through the participation of all sectors, with comprehensive consideration of social, economic, and environmental issues adhered to the principle of providing development benefits to every citizen. The draft of the Parliament's resolution on "Approval of Targeted Development Program" includes Targeted Program of Human Development, Targeted Program of Social Development, Targeted Program of Environment, Targeted Program of Governance, Targeted Program of Regional Development, and Targeted Program to Increase National Competitiveness. The Targeted Development Programs have united more than 500 discrete sectoral development policy documents that have been separately defined and implemented. The approval of the draft resolution provides the opportunity to coordinate the sectors, ensure the full implementation of government policies, and direct the sectoral activities towards unified development results. The successful implementation of policy reforms reflected in the Targeted Development Programs ensures the execution of the first 10-year goals of "Vision 2050" as well as the drastic improvement of general indicators of social, economic, environmental, governance, national competitiveness, and balance of regional and local development.

Read moreFive Government agencies, National Development Agency, General Authority for State Registration, Immigration Agency, Taxation Agency, Social Insurance General Office, held a joint meeting to intensify the activities of the “Invest in Mongolia” One-Stop Service Center for Foreign Investors under the National Development Agency. The “Invest in Mongolia” One-Stop Service Center has provided 54,000 services of 60 types since its establishment in 2019. Before establishing the One-Stop Service Center investors had to spend a total of 15 days and travel 50km to receive services of five Government agencies, but now all services of all five agencies are concentrated at one point and it takes only 30 minutes to receive services. During the meeting five Government agencies have decided to set up a working group to work together on how to intensify the center's activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to integrate high-quality investor information into a single electronic platform and diversify services. Centralization and digitalization of public services is a real condition for supporting investors, improving the quality of investments, expanding the tax base and the social insurance base, as well as raising taxes and fees.
